From Alison Weston…
Whittle Pike was the last English Championship race – 9.8K and 550m ascent.
Ben was already unbeatable in the championships after his performance at Borrowdale but Finlay Grant had a great race to come just ahead at Whittle Pike to share the 1st position in the championships.
Sam has had a fantastic championships – his 13th position at Whittle Pike securing him a top 10 championship position and 2nd under 23 years.
Oli has also had a great year coming 9th overall in the championships, making it three Harriers in the top 10. Maybe a first for Ilkley?
Jane was first female Harrier home at Whittle in 11th position making her 2nd FV50 in the championships despite only running 3 races (when up to 4 can count).
Ilkley ladies put in a great team at Whittle as we were in 4th V40 team position after Borrowdale. We came joint 1st FV40 team and 2nd FV50 team at Whittle Pike thanks to great performances from everyone. Unfortunately in a very competitive field Helm Hill appear to have pipped us to 3rd place in FV40 team category. Despite only having a FV50 team in 3 races, we have come 2nd position in the overall FV50 championships. So a good year for Ilkley Harriers.
