Round Hill Fell Race – Sun 4 Aug

My first time running this local fell race over Blubberhouse Moor. An 8.7 mile route starting and finishing outside Timble village.

Weather conditions were fine and generally good running under foot, apart from the usual bogs to jump that frequent this part of the moor. First through the finish was Fraser Arnott after a great run. Unfortunately, Fraser missed the 3rd checkpoint along with the second finisher so were both disqualified. The race for what became the top 4 finishers was fiercely fought with just 29 secs between them. I managed to hang on to 3rd place.

A great turn out and results for the Harriers with age category podium finishes for Nick Kealey, Dan McKeown, Rachel Carter, Jane McCarthy and Geoffrey White. Special mention for 5th finisher Jonny McKenny on Harriers debut with a very strong run despite stopping twice for shoelace issues! Fantastic tea and cake on sale at the Timble village hall at the end was well supported with proceeds from this and the race going to Brain Tumour Research and Support and a local leukaemia charity.
