From Hilda Coulsey…
I enjoy the idea of this race, the drive there is wonderful, the route is too – very similar to the Nesfield / Beamsley roads, funds support the primary school and the locals are very engaged and supportive. I’d entered in 2020, not my first time I was returning for more, however this was one of the very first races to be cancelled prior to full lockdown at the locals’ request so I thought it was a good thing to enter again this year.
All the things I remember were the same, the locals were exceptional and grateful and the route is tough particularly as the hard work of hills is predominately in the second half. It did feel good to complete the challenge and enjoy the hospitality of tea/ coffee, sandwiches and cake freely provided afterwards.
Stunning performances by everyone with Rachel as first lady being the star and Justin too being very pacy. The 7 mile race took place at the same time with Mike AC taking 3rd overall and Catherine Charlton first in her category. With Steve Ladhams, Mike Williams, Jill Ezard and myself all doing well in the 14 mile we had a superb Harriers day out.
When the pain wears off I’ll enter again for next year.
