The evening of June 22 saw the final race of the winter league Evensplits at the Brownlee Track at Boddington Fields at Leeds. A fabulous evening was had by the Harriers, the weather was sunny and hot, but little to no wind. The club turned out en masse and got some great results in the 5K with Nathan Edmondson finishing second in the 5K race, and Tom Adams in fourth.
After a short break it was relay time!
With runners just recovering from the 5k it was time to race again.
Ilkley’s first men’s team which featured Nathan Edmondson, Jack Wood and Tom Adams won the relay event showing the other clubs that Ilkley have some of the best runners in Yorkshire.
The men also put three further teams out which did very well finishing high up the table.
The girls also put two teams out, with their first team featuring Brit Tate, Ruth Kitchen and Helen Thurston.
They were the first all-female team home winning their category. Ruth Kitchen also came second overall in the ladies winter league table winning a prize and a trophy so well done Ruth. The club also picked up third place out of all the other clubs in the overall winter league, and if they had counted this month we would have won the event overall.
Evensplits has grown in popularity with the club and without all the team member’s hard work, effort and commitment we would never have achieved this so thank you all.
