In short: beautiful day; tough route. That might be enough detail for some, but if not here are a few extra nuggets:
- Tom Adams came within a minute of the course record and won by nearly five, while in the men’s team results, Ilkley Harriers came 4th.
- Conditions were nearly perfect. Blue skies, sunshine, fantastic views, cool and a bit breezy on the tops with a few bogs, but mostly pretty dry underfoot.
- The climbs and descents were relentless – more than 3000ft of ascent over a 15 mile course – yet still not tough enough to qualify as an A category race.
- The race started with a blessing from the vicar and ended on a Strava segment called “Steps of Hell”!
